The College of Arts and Sciences is celebrating gifts from alumni, many through the Winokur Future Faculty Initiative, which have allowed the college to create a number of new endowed professorships.
The two newest professorships have been awarded to Carole Boyce Davies, the Frank H.T. Rhodes Professor of Humane Letters and professor in Africana studies and English; and to Sarah Kreps, the John L. Wetherill Professor in government.
Launched in 2017, the Winokur Future Faculty Initiative has enabled the college to replace retiring faculty, retain top junior faculty and recruit mid-career and senior faculty through endowed professorships to provide leadership in areas of strategic importance.
“In the past two years, 30 of our faculty members have been appointed to these prized positions, which help the college with its efforts to recruit and retain the best and most impactful professors at Cornell,” said Ray Jayawardhana, the Harold Tanner Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “It’s a pleasure to honor this group of well-deserving colleagues.”
