Year 1

Fall

Editorial Assistant, Epoch Literary Magazine

  • Enroll in: MFA Seminar, Small Publishing Workshop, 1 Additional graduate level course,* Grad Research

  • Select one committee chair

Spring

Editorial Assistant, Epoch Literary Magazine

  • Enroll in: MFA Seminar, 2 Additional Graduate Level courses,* Grad Research

  • Select one minor committee member
  • Meet with full committee before term ends

Summer

Knight Institute Teaching Internship: 6 weeks

  • Enroll in: Teaching Writing 7100, Grad Research


Year 2

Fall

Teaching Assistant: First-Year Writing Seminar(1 section)

  • Enroll in: MFA Seminar, 1 Additional Graduate Level course*, Grad Research

  • Advanced Pedagogy Sessions with DGST
  • Meet with full committee before term ends
     

Spring

Teaching Assistant: First-Year Writing Seminar(1 section)

  • Enroll in:MFA Seminar, CW Pedagogical & Thesis Seminar, Grad Research

  • Defend Thesis by 6/1
  • Attend Informational Lectureship Meeting
     

Summer

David L. Picket '84 Fellowship

  • Enroll in: Grad Research
  • Revise thesis & submit final document in ProQuest by 8/1

*Coursework requirements: 4 MFA seminars, Small Publishing Workshop, Teaching Writing 7100, Pedagogical & Thesis Seminar, and 4 additional graduate level courses (at least 4 in English, Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies or Modern or classical language, or theory) approved by your chair with no "INC" grades. One independent/directed/group study is permitted per student.
