Jodi A. Byrd named influential American Indian Scholar

Academic Influence has named Associate Professor Jodi A. Byrd as an influential American Indian scholar. Byrd was ranked 6th on a list of 35 scholars. Academic Influence explains "Our list of 35 scholars of American Indian descent features historians, anthropologists, professors, and researchers alongside artists, authors, educators, and activists. These luminaries have helped shape the course of history within their communities, the broader cross-section of American Indian peoples, and for America as a whole."

The Department of Literatures in English welcomed Byrd to the department in 2021. Byrd will be teaching ENGL 4615 : Lovecraft Country: Blackness, Indigeneity, and Literary Racial Speculation in the Spring 2022 semester.
