Student Spotlight: Aishvarya Arora

I grew up in New York City, and became an avid reader and writer, thanks in part to getting to spend a lot of time in libraries. My teachers always encouraged me to be creative in high school and college, and I ended up studying English and Clinical Psychology at Tufts. There were a lot of wonderful poets teaching there and I ended up writing a collection of poems for my senior thesis. My current research focus involves studying formal elements in genres outside of writing, considering how they can be imported or adapted into poetry. Right now, I’m reading a series of graphic novels and using them to think about how visual images can be instructive for making images in language. So far, this has inspired me to capture and embody details in new ways.
