Cristina grew up in Chicago, where she received a BA in Fiction Writing from Columbia College and an MA in Latin American and Latino Studies from University of Illinois. Before coming to Cornell, she worked with artists, recovering survivors, young people, and their families as an administrator, grant writer, and teaching artist in community and research organizations. Cristina was recently published by DiálogoThe Missouri Review, and TriQuarterly, and awarded recognition by CantoMundo, Hedgebrook Foundation, and the Naropa University Summer Writing Program. Her poem “Reflection from a Bridge” was selected by Tracy K. Smith for the 2015 Best New Poets anthology. She is currently composing a collection of poems that consider the relationship between grief and identity.
